Announcing a new Paragon oval kiln that fires pottery and glass

The elements in the lid are mounted in a firebrick “ball” groove that eliminates element pins.

08/21/2006

The Paragon Janus Ovation has heating elements in the top and sidewalls. Select between glass and pottery with the flip of a switch. In glass mode, heat comes from the top elements and the middle sidewall element. In pottery mode, heat comes from only the sidewall elements.

Fuse and sag large glass projects on a single shelf in glass mode. Fire pottery up to cone 10 in pottery mode. You can also fire several shelves of smaller glass pieces in pottery mode.

If you have been firing a smaller kiln, you will be amazed at the space inside the Janus Ovation. Fire large projects such as bowls or platters in one load. Imagine how many clay or glass pendants you could fire in the Janus Ovation. As you can see, production loads can quickly pay for this kiln.

The Janus Ovation is as short as an 8-sided hobby kiln. Yet the massive 11.4 cubic foot oval interior is larger than a typical 12-sided 29” deep studio kiln.

Even the smallest ceramist can lift the 3” thick oval lid. Patented dual spring-assisted lid supports reduces lid weight to several pounds of pressure and transfer the weight of the lid to a massive hinge assembly on the back of the kiln. This reduces the stress on the kiln wall to give your kiln the long life that Paragon kilns are famous for.

The elements in the lid are mounted in a firebrick “ball” groove that eliminates element pins. The element coils are wider than the groove opening, so the elements stay in place without pins. The groove dissipates heat efficiently. The lid element grooves and inner lid surface are coated for long life.

The patented control box on the Janus Ovation opens forward for easy maintenance. A folding support arm holds the box in the open position.

The digital Sentry 2.0 includes two modes: Cone-Fire with programmed slow cooling and 18-Segment Ramp-Hold. It is manufactured by the Orton Ceramic Foundation exclusively for Paragon. The Sentry is mounted at the top of the switch box within easy reach. Operate it from a comfortable position.

Ask about the optional AOP outlet. This is an outlet on the switchbox that the Orton KilnVent plugs into. The Sentry uses the AOP outlet to control the KilnVent. With AOP, select to shut off the vent automatically when the ware reaches maturity, or to leave it running during cooling. With AOP, you no longer need a separate wall outlet near the kiln for the KilnVent.

Glass/pottery selection switch 3” insulating refractory firebrick firing chamber

Sidewall elements in dropped, recessed brick grooves are easy to replace.

Two tapered peepholes for a wide view with little heat loss

A steel floor pan supports the entire brick bottom of each kiln.

One year limited warranty

Available in 240, 200, 208, or 380 volt, 50 or 60 hertz, single or 3 phase.

Easy-access control box with folding support arm

Since the Janus Ovation is designed for porcelain, it also easily fires ceramics, china paint, decals, gold and, of course, glass.

Janus Ovation Retail Price: $3,550.00

The Furniture Kit

The furniture kit consists of carefully selected fireclay shelves and posts for this particular model. When estimating the price of the kiln, include the cost of furniture. The furniture allows you to stack multiple layers of ware. Without it, you could fire only the ware that would fit on the kiln bottom.
