What People Say

Read our customers testimonials and what they have to say about using a Paragon Kiln.

“I have been working with Paragon for some time. They are a great company and make very good kilns. I would do anything to promote Paragon Industries. I have severe brand loyalty. Electric kilns, fire pots, just as well as wood fired kilns, if the person running the kiln has skill and understanding of the material and methods. And the variety and color coming from Paragon is amazing — a treat for the eye.”

"My small Paragon keeps chugging away, faithfully delivering bisque and glaze loads perfectly fired every single time. Paragon is THE KILN to depend upon. Thanks for the quality. I'm glad to help promote Paragon whenever I get the chance, especially when friends drop by and see the pieces at each stage. They are amazed at how firing turns a form into a work of art."

"As much as anything, I like the support Paragon gives both to me personally as an owner and to the clay community in general. As for the Paragon kilns, I think they are excellent. Also, Paragon has redesigned the installation of the top row of bricks so they are reinforced, and much less likely to break or chip if someone carelessly leans on them, unlike many other kilns. As you can tell, I'm partial to the Paragon Kilns, because my long experience with them in heavy duty firing operations has clearly shown their quality."

"Our Paragon kilns are essential to the successful operation of Vitrum Studio. We’ve never had one person dissatisfied with a Paragon kiln. I can say that with complete honesty. When you sell a kiln, you don’t make a huge margin, but you’re building a customer. Our Paragon kilns are essential to the successful operation of Vitrum Studio. We could not do our job without them. Our Paragon GL-24s and GL-64 are truly workhorses and can handle any firing program we design with absolute accuracy and dependable results, time after time.”

"They are reliable and last a hell of a long time. I’ve fired your kilns all over the country during my seminars. I never hear complaints about your kilns. They are reliable and last a hell of a long time.”

"Paragon kilns just go on working forever. Schools and craft centers fire their kilns almost every day. Though often abused and neglected by students and teachers, Paragon kilns do very well in the teaching environment. Paragon kilns just go on working forever.”

"I’m probably the most abusive person to a kiln. My Paragon kiln is a workhorse. I fire it three times a week average, and sometimes twice a day. My Paragon kiln has been perfect. I like the spring-loaded lid. That is a huge advantage. Precision of temperature is phenomenal. Reds turn out brighter. I’m known for my red colors. People ask me, ‘How do you get those brilliant colors?’”

"I particularly appreciate the way that there is so much information in the manuals. I use my Caldera mainly for batch-annealing small glass beads, but occasionally I fire up some PMC. The Paragon Caldera is my first kiln. I have been so impressed with the all-round performance and service. I thought the manual and paperwork that came with both the kiln and digital controller were both excellent."

"It is very important to Jan and me to get consistent results from our kilns, because this is the way we make our living. We tried several brands of kilns. About five years ago we were firing a 28” other brand kiln, and after numerous repairs gave up on it. David Snyder, at All fired Up, suggested we look at the new Paragon 28” with Sentry 2.0 controller. It has been a very good kiln for us. We have learned that good equipment is worth a little more money and saves time and expenses later. It is very important to Jan and me to get consistent results from our kilns, because this is the way we make our living. Paragon kilns have been a good investment for us.”

"I expect and receive excellent results after each firing." Earline Green, a noted ceramics teacher in Dallas, Texas, created a massive clay quilt display as a commission from the Office of Cultural Affairs in Dallas, Texas. She fired the quilts in her Paragon Dragon kiln. “The Paragon Dragon's design and controls are perfect for firing large flat pieces. The digital programming controls provided a consistent firing environment that eliminated cracks and warpage.

When I lived in North Carolina, my kilns were large, and I worked mostly with ceramics. It wasn't until I moved into a condo in Florida and I discovered Art Clay Silver that I had to make a major decision about my kiln. I could go only with 120 volts, the kiln had to be small for the condo, it had to fire Art Clay Silver accurately, it had to fire cone 06-6 glazes and porcelain and still be large enough for a small vase. Need I say more...?

“I love my Paragon kiln! It has been an important part of my studio for 12 years. After I’ve put in a lot of work into a piece, I can count on my GL-22 for even firing. I’ve had great success in fusing everything from sheet glass to frits and powders in several types of molds. It is a great size for all types of fusing. I can fuse flat pieces, and the kiln is high enough to accommodate a mold for slumping. And it is easy to load. I can’t wait to see what projects I come up with to fuse in the future.”

“For the last fifteen years I have been firing all my work in a wood-fired kiln. I enjoy the excitement of the firings, and my friends and customers like the random fire flashings and ash deposits. What they don’t know is that every piece is first fired in my Paragon electric kiln. While accidental and chance effects can enhance a wood firing, consistency is the key to successful bisque firings. For those firings, my Paragon has delivered reliable and constant results year after year. It practically fires itself, giving me more time to make more pots.”

“Over the years Paragon has led the industry in innovation. I’ve always found that everything Paragon did was followed by other kiln companies two or three years later. The best example is the digital controller. Other kiln companies introduced the controller as a brand new innovation after Paragon already had a controller for two or three years. As a professional repair person, I prefer selling a top quality kiln and then never having to worry about a warranty issue rather than selling a kiln of lesser quality and having to worry that I will have to make a trip for warranty service repair."

“When we wanted superior kiln roofs, Paragon designed fiber tops with embedded elements. When we pressed for reliable relays, Paragon supplied the long-lasting mercury option. We’ve suggested modifications in element placement, overall dimensions, controllers, and instruction manuals—and each time, Paragon has responded. Now the kilns are easier than ever to operate. And they’re real workhorses. We use them in our teaching, testing, and fabrication studios—firing day after day, year after year, with very few problems or interruptions."

"I'm an enamellist and a metal clay artist. When I started looking for my first kiln, I wanted one kiln that would serve both these needs. I found exactly what I was looking for in the Paragon SC-2. Over the years this versatile little kiln has been an absolute workhorse and has never let me down. It's fast and precise. I can fire an entire load of metal clay, from start to finish, in about half an hour! The addition of a window in the door has made it perfect for enameling. Being able to watch the enamels fuse eliminates problems with over-firing."

Becky Johnson fires the Creative Art Center kilns four times a week. “Sometimes we can squeeze in an additional firing during the week,” she says. “Let's see…I have fired the three Art Center Paragon kilns 624 times. Whew! And that doesn't even include the firings in my own personal kilns. Opening the kiln is magical,” says Becky. “I love it most when I can load the kiln as tight as possible so that every inch is filled with artwork. Loading the kiln is very important, because I want to ensure that each piece looks its best when the firing is complete.”

“I live in Cairo, Egypt. I am indeed highly motivated to promote Paragon kilns--not only because of my long experience and the high quality of the kilns but also because of the most friendly assistance of the Paragon team. My first kiln was the Paragon QuickFire, which I bought 20 years ago. I enjoyed it very much. I have the Caldera. Then when I got the project of making replicate church windows, I got two Fusion-14s. I fire four times a day for a maximum of 600 paintings and decals. For fusing small pieces I use the Caldera but for large pieces I use the new Fusion-14s."

“Paragon has shown me that there are still good people out there. The first kiln I ordered never made it to my house even though UPS said they delivered it. I called Paragon and talked to a sweet person in the shipping department explaining what happened. I was amazed when Paragon offered to ship me a new kiln free of charge. It proved to me that Paragon was not just there to sell their kilns but to make a customer for life."

“I have been using a Paragon SC-2 in my studio for years, and it just keeps on chugging along, firing up to temp, holding temp, and allowing me to sinter fine silver and bronze metal clays. I also recommend these kilns everywhere I've taught metal clay, as they are perfect for workshop teaching. I also own and use a small, non-computer controlled kiln for enameling, the Paragon Q-11A, and find it to be the perfect size both for the work I'm doing and for available horizontal space in my studio. It is preferable to the SC-2 for enameling as the firebricks hold the temp better when the door is opened for checking or removing enameled pieces. This kiln does its job beautifully."

“If I were stranded on a desert isle, I would take my Keurig coffemaker, my Paragon kiln, a suitcase full of supplies, and a really long extension cord! I love Paragon, have been using their kilns since the late 60s. I used them first for pottery and casting, then glass, and now PMC. My current heartthrob is the SC-3. It'll do anything, probably stand on its head for me. I have used it for wax burnout, beadmaking, metal clay, enameling, heat coloring copper—golly, just about everything. It's a workhorse! You can't go wrong with one of those!"

“I have an SC-1 as well as an SC-2 and I just love it! I fire nearly every day and now only use the SC-2 when I can't fit it all in the smaller kiln. The SC-1 gets up to temp really fast and is every bit as reliable as the larger Paragon kilns. I've used that little kiln nearly every single day since I got it. It may not be the ideal choice for someone who only has one kiln, but for a frequent firer such as myself, it's really wonderful. I got it at the beginning of January 2010.”

“The Paragon Dragon has changed my life,” said Cha-Rie Tang, who makes custom tile murals. “A front-loading kiln is essential for tiles. I can load five layers easily. I can finally offer Craftsman tiles for installation, and I have accepted jobs up to 500 square feet of tiles without trouble."

"Pilchuck Glass School has used Paragon kilns in one form or the other for at least the past 20+ years. I can definitely state that Paragon kilns are about as ‘student proof’ and reliable as a kiln can be built. Paragon has also been great with their technical support for ease in resolving questions and parts on those rare occasions when help is required. We appreciate having such reliable equipment for our students and programs."
